Summer - Fall Adirondack White Water Rafting Adventures
Discover Adirondack white water rafting in the summer through the Hudson River Gorge, one of the most scenic area of New York State, when the weather and rapids are warm. This is a great time for all types of folks with plenty of entertaining rapids mixed with a complete day in the Adirondack wilderness. Hudson River Gorge wildernessControlled dam releases by The Town of Indian Lake provide us with reliable Class III white water all summer and through the very scenic fall season. We suggest ages 8+ during our summer rafting season and encourage families to enjoy an adventure together.
When running the summer Hudson River we meet you at our Adirondack white water rafting base in Indian Lake at 9 AM. We are located just five minutes from where we start our day of rafting. Adirondacks scenery is just minutes away after you meet the crew. Once geared up with the proper equipment and safety information we head to the Indian River where we are ready to begin with very entertaining Class III white water. Our experienced licensed NY rafting guides will explain in more detail and practice with the crew. Now ready our newly skilled crew and guide pull out and into the rapids. After three miles of exhilarating thrills we meet with the confluence of the Hudson River, which is running from the High Peaks region of the Adirondack Mountains.
From this point on we'll experience the wild river and scenic Gorge. Our trip on the Hudson begins with The Cedar Ledges a rapid that takes us down to The Black Hole. This is a favorite spot to hop out of the rafts and into the river to relax and let the current carry you down to Elephant Rock where many of our guests decide they would like to try a jump. Not far below we pull over near Virgin Falls and take a relaxing lunch break and enjoy the beach.
After lunch we head for The Blue Ledge
Inn Rapids that require the crew to navigate the raft
through a tricky Class III. As we continue around the bend
in the river we encounter the stunning view of The Blue
Ledge walls, (three hundred foot granite walls). Immediately
after the walls we encounter The Blue Ledge Narrows where
you experience exciting waves coming over the raft and
soaking everyone. Below The Narrows a large still pool
invites many in for another refreshing dip. We are now
prepared to run Mile Long Rapids, which will require
everyone to paddle and steer the raft with fast water
surrounding us. Further down stream we'll explain our plan
on how to run The Kettle Mountain Rapid, this is always a
challenging Class III. We'll often pull over and go for a
refreshing swim or relax on shore below this very
entertaining spot. Once back in the rafts we prepare ourselves for The Harris Rift rapids that continue down river for nearly a mile. We then cross under the old abandoned railroad trestle, (our first sign of civilization). Down below the trestle there is a great spot for raft surfing if the crew is up for it. We then continue out of the Beautiful Gorge with a relaxing float down to our Take-out in North River located not far from The Gore Mt .Ski Ctr. Transportation is then provided back to our river base in Indian Lake where your day began. Check out Adirondack white water rafting photos from past trips!
